SUMMARY:Clay\, Draw and Sculpture Camp
DESCRIPTION:August 3-7 \nMonday-Friday 9-3 \nAges 8-12 \nInstructed by Madalyn Olson and Lee Williams \n$300 \nThis unique week-long camp has the day divided with two teaching artists bringing their own special art mediums to our campers. \nThe first half of the day starts off with multi-media artist Madalyn Olson in the VAE Clay Studio exploring the world of hand-building. You’ll create one-of-a-kind clay creations from bowls and cups to animals and birds. Campers at any skill level will be able to improve their techniques in building and glazing while creating functional and non-functional ceramic pieces. \nAfter lunch\, the second half of the day takes you outside to the Art Shed with sculptor Lee Williams. You’ll work on drawings that lead to building sculptures and look examples of his work and others as inspiration and to look further at how sculptures are put together. Available materials for building your own sculptures include natural materials from our environment like vine\, wood\, and recycled objects. A variety of power and hand tools will be used and shown how to properly use them. \nA mini exhibition will be held at the end of the week\, showing off the week’s creations! Bring water bottle\, bag lunch\, snack and your imagination! \nRegistration opens April 17th at 6pm. \nRegister HERE

SUMMARY:Camp Danger Week 2 at the VAE Studio\, Ages 8+\, August 8-12\, 2022
DESCRIPTION:Both Weeks of Camp Danger are SOLD OUT with full waiting lists. \nBoth Weeks of Camp Danger will follow the same curriculum with some alteration.  \nTo the Parents: The only screen-time your camper will have at Camp Danger is with a hammer and screwdriver in hand\, taking the screen apart or maybe even smashing it. Your camper will learn how things are made by disassembly and by creating something new from something old or discarded. We’ll have a visit from someone doing very a dangerous thing\, make fire pits\, cook a lunch\, take discarded appliances apart and create new sculpture machines. We’ll drill\, whittle\, hack\, saw\, sand\, hammer\, burn and most likely blow something up. \nInstructed by Matthew Perry\n10am-4pm\nAges 8+ \n

DESCRIPTION:This week sees campers engaged in mind-bending activities. They’ll be experimenting and creating like they never have before. They’ll make things that fly\, float and may never come back. Ever make an edible print? Or paint plant graffiti? What about driving a printmaking machine? How about creating messges outside that only appear when it rains? Explore optics in a walk- in Camera Obscura and make your own custom camera out of anything from a Pringles chip can to a giant cardboard washing machine box. Investigate ways to make something hidden in plain sight. Design optical illusions and make drawings with secret messages and decoders. Test and bottle your own brand of invisible ink! We’ll do all this\, and make time for swimming at the lake! \nInstructed by Rhonda Ratray\n10am-4pm\nAges 6-9 \nBuy Tickets
