SUMMARY:Clay\, Draw and Sculpture Camp
DESCRIPTION:August 3-7 \nMonday-Friday 9-3 \nAges 8-12 \nInstructed by Madalyn Olson and Lee Williams \n$300 \nThis unique week-long camp has the day divided with two teaching artists bringing their own special art mediums to our campers. \nThe first half of the day starts off with multi-media artist Madalyn Olson in the VAE Clay Studio exploring the world of hand-building. Campers at any skill level will be able to improve their techniques in building and glazing while creating functional and non-functional ceramic pieces. \nAfter lunch\, the second half of the day takes you outside to the Art Shed with sculptor Lee Williams. You’ll work on drawings that lead to building sculptures and look examples of his work and others as inspiration and to look further at how sculptures are put together. Available materials for building your own sculptures include natural materials from our environment like vine\, wood\, and recycled objects. A variety of power and hand tools will be used and shown how to properly use them. \nA mini exhibition will be held at the end of the week\, showing off the week’s creations! Bring water bottle\, bag lunch\, snack and your imagination! \nRegistration opens April 17th at 6pm. \nRegister HERE

SUMMARY:"Surfs Up" - The Village School of North Bennington All Student Art Show
DESCRIPTION:“The Village School of North Bennington All Student Show is one of our favorite exhibitions to host” says Rhonda Ratray\, Artist in Residence at the Left Bank and curator of the Maurice Kahn Gallery\, “The artwork is exciting and creative and it’s wonderful to see the pride the students have in their work. I regularly hear from visitors to the gallery that they are delighted by the exhibition”. \nTeaching Artist\, Caitilin McAdoo and Assistant Maria Scully worked with the students throughout the school year to create a show in which you’ll see paintings\, ceramics\, papier mâché\, chickens\, fish\, things made with recycled materials\, and prints. Says Caitilin\, “We turned paper plates into jellyfish and chickens. We used shredded documents from the office to make our own paper clay and utilized egg cartons and plaster of Paris to make fish that move. We tried new techniques for acrylic paint pours. Sixth graders designed their own independent projects based on what they were interested in. Second Graders wrote a book. Fourth graders learned some techniques for painting formal portraits. We carved our own printing blocks and made prints. Fifth Graders made plywood fish and Third Graders used the scraps to make their own sculptures. Pre-k students learned that elephants sometimes turn out to be giraffes and tanks can feature laser pointers for cats”. \nDon’t miss one of our favorite shows of the year.

SUMMARY:Jenna Nicholls
DESCRIPTION:In a tapestry of sound\, Jenna Nicholls weaves a spell: strumming her ukulele or playing the piano with the spirit of New Orleans or crooning a cowboy’s tale with the soul of the West. Her melodies\, like vintage vinyl spun anew\, carry the weight of memory and promise of tomorrow. With three albums under her belt\, her songs have found their way into the heart of cinema and the pulse of television. On the road she’s shared stages with legends like Ingrid Michaelson\, and Oscar winner Glen Hansard. From the storied stages of Carnegie Hall and the Beacon Theatre\, Jenna’s music echoes through the night\, a testament to the enduring power of song. \n“Her ability melodically to leave me wanting the next part of the story is mesmerizing. Jenna points out universal moments in our lives and even though they’re personal to her\, I don’t feel left out. The level of descriptive writing in her lyrics is astonishing.”\n– Melissa Ferrick \n“Her songs land like a freight ship into the harbor of hearts and ears… The air changes. Pure mastery.”\n– Glen Hansard \nDoors open at 6pm\, show starts at 7pm \nTickets: $25 in advance\, $30 at door if not sold out\, $15 students \nhttps://tickets.benningtontheater.org/event/jenna-nicholls-sxeiz0
