Camp Danger Week 1 at the VAE Studio, Ages 8+, July 18-22, 2022
July 18 @ 10:00 am - July 22 @ 4:00 pm$225
Both Weeks of Camp Danger are SOLD OUT with full waiting lists.
Both Weeks of Camp Danger will follow the same curriculum with some alteration.
To the Parents: The only screen-time your camper will have at Camp Danger is with a hammer and screwdriver in hand, taking the screen apart or maybe even smashing it. Your camper will learn how things are made by disassembly and by creating something new from something old or discarded. With supervision, they will take risks, learn to be safe while using sharp tools, power equipment and forging iron. Campers will be taught how to safely and correctly use these tools, and once they demonstrate responsible use, they will earn the right to use them to create pieces of art.
To the Campers: At Camp Danger, we’ll be swimming every day at Lake Paran, go “creek walking”, make and throw wooden spears and forge iron hooks. We’ll have a visit from someone doing very a dangerous thing, make fire pits, cook a lunch, take discarded appliances apart and create new sculpture machines. We’ll drill, whittle, hack, saw, sand, hammer, burn and most likely blow something up.
