The Indie-Folk band SHOW PONIES take the stage bringing you Old Time bluegrass with a twist. From California, on an East Coast tour, the Show Ponies weave story and song with the same charm, pathos, and boldness that brought them from Texas and Arkansas to California. Kim Ruehl, of FolkAlley states, “They pull together pieces of old time Appalachian folk with strong harmonies and rhythms to create a bouncy, fervent energy that’s starting to make waves.”Lead vocalist, banjo player and founding member Andi Carder grew up, like so many iconic American voices over the generations, singing in church. She performed in musical theater—musical heritage often, which became apparent in performing what she, likes to call “folk sassgrass.” David Maine from Pop Matters” quotes “ The Show Ponies are a West Coast-based bluegrass/old-timey band who, at their best, embody all the raw energy and enthusiasm inherent in the genre, fortified with on-target lyrics and a refreshingly modern sensibility.”
